Pharmacy Technician Training in Idaho

Are you interested in obtaining your pharmacy technician training in Idaho? As you may know, the state of Idaho requires that you get your certification.  As a public service, we’ve compiled a list of training programs and prerequisites you need to get certified.

Pharmacy Technician Certification in Idaho

The state of Idaho requires pharmacy technicians to obtain national certification.  As of July 1, 2009 Idaho mandated that only registered or licensed support personnel (including technicians, technicians-in-training, and student pharmacists) will be allowed in the secured area of the pharmacy. As a result many are now enrolling  in training programs to prepare them to take the national exam.

Passing the National Pharmacy Technician Exam

Pharmacy technicians may become certified through either the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Institute for Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).  Both tests require a relatively small fee of $129 and $105 respectively.  The exams consist of about 100 multiple-choice questions and are taken at designated sites via computer.

If you are already working as a technician you may be able to pass the exam based on your experience alone.  However, if you are new to the field you will want to obtain the necessary training in order to pass the exam.
